Keeping the conversation going

The container village in Allende II – too big a place for a small exhibition. It was not possible to recount many of the stories that were remembered and told. That’s why you have the opportunity to share your own stories here. Or to ask questions that arose during the exhibition. This is the place to start a conversation and to remain in dialogue with each other.

The exhibition team and the Social Space-Oriented Planning Coordination team would like to expressly thank all those who made this exhibition possible with their participation in workshops, involvement in the form of interviews, provision of information in a wide variety of ways, and additional support with research, categorisation and communication.

Special thanks go to all former residents, neighbours and all those involved who shared their stories with us. We would also like to thank: the BENN Allende Neighbourhood team and the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Housing for their extensive support of the project right from the start. the State Office for Refugee Affairs (LAF), the former operators and their teams, as well as all former employees for providing extensive background information and sharing their memories. all colleagues at the Treptow-Köpenick Borough Office in Berlin who contributed their expertise to creating the exhibition. all the experts who provided additional knowledge and carefully proofread our work.

Berlin, April 2026

The special interviews and the data material shared with us, consisting of texts, photos and videos, were the main sources of information for this exhibition. In addition, newspaper articles, official documents and publications, written reports from private sources and specialised literature were used for the research. The most important ones are listed below.
